Introduction

Hello all,

This is an initial post to introduce people to the purpose of this blog. So as an initial personal intro, my name is Haris, I come originally from Greece but I have been living the past 5 years in England (London and Cambridge). I am a computer geek and I pretend to do research during my time in Cambridge. I use the word pretend, as work has turn out so far to be great fun and thus I couldn't declare as work strictly.

The reason why this blog is called "a marxist approach to silicon valley" is twofold. On one hand, I declare myself as marxist. Some people might disagree with that, or declare it as a post-modern approach to marxism, but what the heck, I am what I am and what I am needs no excuses. Now, a few years ago I saw a nice talk by Ricahrd Wolf, a professor of the ex prime minister of greece who led greece into IMF. Now the guy is mostly a marxist economist, but some times the american way of living create some false interpetation of theory. In the video bellow, wolf describes sillicon valley as the place to embody a libertarian, marxist mode of labour, which from what I have heard so far, is far from truth.

The second reason for this title is the fact that in a couple of days I will be moving  to mountain view to work as an intern in a research lab. Now, I know that this place is full of motivated enterpreneures eager to invent innovation, a modus operanti a bit controversial to my world view. So I grab this opportunity to document my reactions to this new experience. So off to new ideological experiences, with a bit of sneak pick on this blog.

So keep following this blog. I am planning to generate an entry every week, time permitting. Planning to make some intertaning, but theory challenging post.

PS : Just because google is rumored to be a cia stub company and i need to get through emigration, I will conclude with saying GOD BLESS AMERICA.
